The easiest way to check for it is to run a virus scan with Norton, McAfee, or Symantec updated virus definitions. The virus definitions must be up-to-date though or it will not help. Another way to check if you have the virus is to see if you can visit anti-virus software websites such as the ones listed above. In most circumstances if you can visit those pages you don’t have the virus. There are however some instances where your computer may still have the virus despite passing the tests listed above and not showing any symptoms.

If you do end up finding out that you have the Conficker virus it could be quite tricky to remove it. The reason being is that if you have it you probably won’t be able to access the security websites that have removal tools. This is because the worm itself will block these websites from you. In order to eliminate the Conficker on your computer you will most likely will have to have a friend with an uninfected computer download the removal patch software and then send it to you as an email attachment for you to download.
