Detect And Remove The Conficker Worm Virus

If you are visiting our website you have probably already been alerted about what the Conficker Worm Virus is. In case you haven’t we’ll give you a quick run down.

The Conficker worm was discovered back in November of 2008 and is a trojan worm virus that is set to stay dormant until April 1, 2009. Once April 1, 2009 rolls around the virus is suppose to get instructions from over 50,000 different automated websites that are rolled in and out each day. These websites can give the virus any type of instructions the creators choose. This is why the virus is so dangerous. At this point nobody knows what the creators plan to use it for or if they will use it at all with the recent publicity around it.

It is highly recommend that everybody look into the Conficker Worm and confirm that they do not have it. The easiest way to check for it is to run a virus scan with Norton, McAfee, or Symantec updated virus definitions. The virus definitions must be up-to-date though or it will not help. Another way to check if you have the virus is to see if you can visit anti-virus software websites such as the ones listed above. In most circumstances if you can visit those pages you don’t have the virus. There are however some instances where your computer may still have the virus despite passing the tests listed above and not showing any symptoms.

If you do end up finding out that you have the Conficker virus it could be quite tricky to remove it. The reason being is that if you have it you probably won’t be able to access the security websites that have removal tools. This is because the worm itself will block these websites from you. In order to eliminate the Conficker on your computer you will most likely will have to have a friend with an uninfected computer download the removal patch software and then send it to you as an email attachment for you to download.
